Music is a powerful tool.

Have you ever experienced being so down and helpless and how music helped you move out of grief, fear or pain? Or what about that instance when you were so burned out from work and when you suddenly heard that old-time favorite music played over the radio, you started to feel peace and joy? Oh, how music can indisputably alter the way we feel!

Emotionally, physiologically, mentally and spiritually, music has the power to switch every aspect of human feelings. Music is used in yoga or meditation. This is because it can easily relax the mind and make us escape the stress of everyday living. Music is for therapy tool -- one of the oldest therapy tools known to man. In ancient times, drums were used to create music and they're symbols of power over sickness for medicine men. In some articles, music aids in the organization and flow of brain messages.

Try to eat meals and at the same time listen to a slow music and you eat slower than usual. Eat when the music is fast, and you eat like mad. Weird? Not at all. It is the effect of the music beat. It is found out that slow music mellows out the heartbeat and the breathing rate thus slowing down activities. Concurrently, faster music fires up body dynamism.

Music, undeniably, has a titanic power. Maybe our country has to put more emphasis on music education, knowing how music-minded Filipinos are.

Remember what Napoleon said: "Give me control over he who shapes the music of a nation, and I care not who makes the laws".
